What We Do With Power

The world stopped for two hours. No warning. No cause. No memory of the interval.

When it came back, most of humanity resumed as normal. A small percentage did not.

They are the Awakened — individuals who emerged from the event carrying capabilities that don't fit any existing framework. Some can absorb force and redirect it. Some can produce enough thermal energy to level a building. Some can interface with systems as though the boundary between person and machine has stopped being meaningful. The event that produced them left no explanation and no pattern. What it left is a world that now has to decide what to do about them.

What We Do With Power follows Dominic Vale — quiet, analytical, and in possession of something the Directive's classification systems aren't built to account for. Within a fixed twenty-five metre radius, he can alter physical law: force, timing, momentum, outcome. He understood what he had within days. He arrived at a conclusion shortly after: the capability does not constitute permission.

Surrounding him is an ensemble of characters who have each answered the question differently. Amara Kade, who absorbs catastrophe so others don't have to, and believes the limit of what power entitles you to is exactly that. Marcus Veyne, who converted the question into a simpler one — safety and overwhelming force are the same thing, and both are correct. Inspector Teland, who doesn't ask what power means; she asks what shape it leaves behind, and builds the map accordingly. Director Elara Voss, who looked at an unstable world and concluded that structure is not a preference — it is the only responsible answer.

And somewhere at the edge of the picture, someone who spent the period after the Awakening establishing something no one else had thought to investigate: that ability can be transferred. That understanding something first is sufficient right to take it. That the correct person to hold power is simply whoever is capable of recognising themselves as such.

The series is an ensemble ideological thriller built around a single question asked from every possible angle: if you had the capacity to control things — should you?

It does not resolve that question cleanly. It is not built to.
