Marcus Chen was a good vet. Twelve years of overnight emergencies, impossible choices, and owners who couldn't afford the surgery proved that. Then he fell asleep at the wheel, and everything ended.

Now he's in a body that isn't his, in a world that isn't Earth, with a System ability that's utterly useless for combat: Comfort Sense. He can perceive exactly what makes any creature physically uncomfortable. The itch they can't scratch. The harness that rubs wrong. The scale that's been irritating them for three hundred years.

But there's a dead man's potion shop with good bones, a stray dog with chronic allergies, and a whole world full of creatures that can't tell anyone what hurts.
