Siegebreaker: Architect of a Broken World
Synopsis
Magic can move a mountain. It cannot tell you whether the mountain will hold.
Alex Reed is twenty-one, in his final year of civil engineering, running ground-penetrating radar over a condemned building at night because that's the shift that pays.
11:47 PM. His mother's name on the screen. She never calls this late.
He reaches for the phone. The floor gives way.
He wakes in Valsalia — a continent that came apart and never finished falling. Rock floats. Gravity is negotiable. Something in the dark eats the people who camp in the wrong place.
What's left of the cat-kin have a canyon mouth, a hundred and twenty-seven survivors, a queen with a broken sword, and four days before the Iron Fang wolves arrive.
Alex has no spells and no army. He has statics, lime mortar, drainage, sightlines, and an engineering overlay called Siegebreaker OS that mostly confirms what he already suspects — and sometimes refuses to answer at all.
So he builds a wall. The wall holds.
That turns out to be the dangerous part. In a world where every explanation belongs to the priesthood, a man who can make things hold — and show his work — is either the most useful person alive, or the most inconvenient.
What to expect:
- Real engineering: load paths, cure times, measurement, and failures that cost people their hands
- Base and kingdom building: one wall, then a fort, then water, currency, treaties, and the unglamorous machinery that keeps a settlement alive
- A system with limits: Siegebreaker OS is a tool, not a slot machine — no levels, no grinding, no free power
- Competence, not cruelty: the MC wins by preparing, by leverage, and by being the only one in the room who wrote the numbers down
- Politics with teeth: guilds, princes, an inquisition, and old machines that people have learned to call gods
- No harem. Slow-burn romance. No isekai comedy.
