When night comes, the children begin to sing.

After the death of her six-year-old daughter, Hikaru leaves Tokyo behind and moves to the remote mountain village of Ubunores, hoping distance and silence might succeed where time failed.

At first, the village feels untouched by the modern world. Neighbors repair each other’s roofs. Meals appear quietly at her doorstep. Children laugh along mist-covered paths, and a small girl named Hinata slowly brings warmth back into Hikaru’s grief-stricken life.

But something is wrong in Ubunores.

At night, children’s voices drift through the valley singing words Hikaru cannot understand. Villagers avoid certain questions. No one leaves their doors open after dark. And sometimes, in the middle of the night, children are seen walking toward the forest as if called by something waiting beyond the trees.

The deeper Hikaru becomes entangled in the village, the more she uncovers fragments of an old curse buried beneath generations of silence, guilt, and forgotten grief.

Some villagers believe changelings walk among them.

Others believe the real monsters are the parents who mistook their own children for them.

And somewhere in the quiet dark of Ubunores, something still remembers.
