Twilight of Innocence
Synopsis
Hannah has been the real adult in her family since she was ten, since her father died and her mother started working herself into the ground just to keep them fed. She's fourteen now, fiercely protective, quietly exhausted, and convinced she can handle anything the world throws at her sister. Lilliana is nine, and she still believes the world is basically kind. Something ancient has started paying attention to that belief. It's not loud at first. A wrongness at the edge of a crowded market. A voice folded into the hum of a refrigerator at 2 a.m. A stranger's smile held one beat too long on a street corner. But it's building toward something, and Hannah is the only one who's noticed, with no idea yet what she's actually up against.
