After the last round of warring and...Reorganizing of powers, the continent of D'reverûn outlawed all unlicensed mercenary work, combining what was left of the sellswords under one single banner: The Tasker's Guild. With hubs dotted across all the major (and minor) settlements, the guild takes on tasks that the soldiers and official guards of the cities can't. Or, more often, won't.

Alnyx Irinel, a "wild" elf who has worked with the Guild for years out of Port Morgranto, has become known in his little quadrant of the Tradelands for taking on any job that comes his way, and completing them with ruthless efficiency. He isn't in it for the glory, or the thrill of the hunt; he's in it for the coin. After a particularly tricky hunt, Alnyx stumbles into a spellcaster that awakens more than the living mana around them. And a prophecy he never asked to be a part of.
