The Rose's Torn Petals

It was dreamt that a world under the protection of the Blossoms - magical girls blessed by light and tasked with great purpose - would be a world that knows only peace, where sorrow was no more than a distant memory. They truly believed that, thousands of years ago. But as long as there is darkness, there shall be Blossoms to face it; or could it be that as long as there are Blossoms, darkness will rise again and again?

Such questions do not yet trouble the innocent minds of the initiates of the year of 1878, concerned instead with completing their training to join the ranks of the Blossoms safeguarding the world. These girls, weaned on stories of magic and wonder, long to walk the hallowed paths of their predecessors. Calamity, however, cares little for the petty plans and hopes of humanity.

In the wake of tragedy, they are left with no alternative but to bloom from mere buds to Blossoms forced to bear the weight of the world on their backs. With their training so abruptly interrupted and left to fend for themselves, untested as they are, they shall have no choice but to find their own way in a changed world, with no one to take their hand and teach them how to be heroines that will be so desperately needed.

If such a thing could ever even be taught in the first place, that is.
