The Dawnbreaker Chronicles
Synopsis
Some wounds don't heal. They become weapons.
At eleven years old, Kaelen watched everything burn. His village. His people. His father defeated by a shadow-wielding monster and left behind while Kaelen ran with nothing but a glowing shard and a promise he couldn't keep.
Five years later he's still running but toward them now, not away.
Armed with the Stormweaver Shard, a fragment of a divine weapon said to have once killed gods, Kaelen tracks the Black Sun Cult to the ruins of Eryndor. What he finds there pulls him into a war far older and larger than one boy's revenge and into the company of people who carry their own wreckage.
Lysera, who lost her mother to the same cult's promises. Caelum, a white-haired lion of a man who knew Kaelen's father and carries guilt about that knowledge. Varen, Luka, Verona are soldiers, survivors, people who chose to stand between humanity and something ancient trying to claw its way back into the world.
Together they are the Dawnbreakers. They don't conquer. They don't rule. They hold the line.
But holding the line costs something. Every battle leaves a mark. Every victory asks a price. And Kaelen is learning that the shard responds not just to skill but to desperation, grief, and love for the people standing beside him.
The Black Sun Cult wants to resurrect the tyrant gods that Somnus defeated at the cost of the Spear of Aethernus. The shards scattered across the world are the key. And Kaelen carries one of the most powerful fragments in existence.
They will come for it.
The question is what he becomes before they do.

🧙 About the Author
Hi, I’m Damien Shard. This is my first time writing anything — I started this story because I wanted something that resonated deeply with me, something dark and personal and full of scars and storms. I hope it resonates with you too.
When I’m not writing about cults, shards, and gods, I’m working a day job and dreaming up new arcs one lightning bolt at a time.
