The Archmage Who Retired to Farm

by S. A. Veyne Ongoing

Synopsis

Caelan Veyr is level 100 at the one thing he never wants to do again.

As the Crownless Archmage, he ended a continental war. Then he disappeared, bought Briarwake Farm, and traded battlefields for fences, irrigation, livestock, and the hope of one ordinary growing season.

Then one of his black hens kills an ash-wyrm in front of an Imperial Academy field team.

The Concordance has an explanation—or at least a new problem. Caelan's old Mythic path is complete. His new path, Briarwake Steward, is only level 1, with limited Capacity, Skill slots, Domain slots, Resonance, and one advancement rule that matters: brute force doesn't count as stewardship.

So the strongest mage in Vaelor has to learn how to progress without solving every problem with overwhelming magic.

That would be difficult enough if Briarwake only produced impossible crops and dangerously unusual livestock. Instead, every proof of the farm's value gives someone else a reason to claim a piece of it. Academy scholars want study rights. Noble infrastructure controls whether valuable harvests can travel. The Crown sees a strategic asset. Local villagers have livelihoods to protect. And ancient draconic law may have something to say about who gets to call the land theirs.

Caelan can destroy armies. He can't blast his way through custody, consent, ecology, or trust without wrecking the quiet life he's trying to protect.

Overpowered protagonist with a new progression path Farming, husbandry, crafting, and logistics progression Visible levels, skills, Capacity, Domains, and Resonance Academy politics, magical ecology, and dragon pressure Dry humor, high-action set pieces, and found-family friction

If you want a LitRPG where progression changes what the hero can responsibly build—not just what he can kill—start with Briarwake Farm.
