Song of the Dragoons

Belfry had hoped that all the loss she would suffer was already behind her. Her family ties, her home, and her dream of becoming an apothecary all went up in smoke when a distant rebellion burned through her secluded town, forcing her to turn back towards thievery to stay alive.

When her sister suddenly walked back into her life years after the dust had settled, she never expected that a chain of events would be set off that would take away her very humanity too. Transfigured into an ersatz dragon, she and her sister Grace journey to find the distant Dragoon Corps of dragon-bonded knights in hopes of finding answers and a cure.

But with a fiendish, transformative curse spreading through the province and eldritch magi drawing the ire of otherworldly powers, Belfry's affliction might be vital in stemming the tide of the growing evil, even as she struggles to rediscover her identity amidst the loss of everything she thought she knew about herself. How much is she willing to give up to stay alive, and to protect the people who rely on her? And will she even recognise herself, when all is said and done?

A slow-paced adventure fantasy with progression elements introduced very gradually, and intentions of transitioning into an episodic narrative.
