Synopsis
He means to stay boring. The road won’t let him.
Harl takes the far room on purpose. For sixty-one days he has not used the craft that lets him hear, and mend, the world’s open seams.
Then Ollo-Vasht knocks with work: path a marriage cart through the Greel, the dead gallery country that has already eaten two guided parties this season. The dowry is not gold. It is a boiler-heart, drained and salt-felted, still wet enough to matter. The aunt does not want a flashy guide. She wants a careful one.
