Resonant Pilot
Synopsis
Niko Andrelis thought the sky was boring, until it cracked open on a Tuesday night and a multiversal racing society decided a burnt-coffee barista was exactly who they needed to wake a sealed serpent mech that hadn't moved in six hundred years.
Ion Viper chose him. Or recognized him. Niko is not sure there is a difference, and the perfect sync on his first Drift trial suggests the League is not either.
Training at the Citadel means rival pilots, a mentor who flinches at the name of Viper's last pilot, and a sentient war machine that would rather throttle back than risk losing another human inside its core. It also means racing: real velocity, real walls, and a Rookie Qualifier where third place might be the smartest win Niko has ever made.
Something ancient is sealed inside Viper. Something that whispers. When a dimensional fracture tears open above the track, the mech does the one thing nobody expected: it sacrifices itself to keep Niko alive.
Niko's answer is worse. He follows it into the dark.
Emotional mecha. Found family. Partnership over sacrifice. Updates twice weekly.
Content warnings: psychological intensity; grief and mentor trauma; corruption body-horror later; implied pilot death in backstory. YA tone (14+). No spice.
