Out of the Dust: A LitRPG Story

As far as beginning journeys into other worlds went, mowing the lawn — and being hit with a ludicrously dangerous quantity of electricity whilst being distracted by a beautiful stranger — would not have been on Declan Shaw's bingo card... 

Transported through space and time, sharp-tongued Declan is deposited into the world of the Aska Isles by the System, an enigmatic entity that seems to have picked him for some grand and bloody destiny. There, he soon learns that progression and experience result in tangible rewards.

That being said, Declan must first build up his skills and attributes at the Goramakt Academy. Happily, a thorough grounding in pop culture and being a fan of all things LitRPG means that Declan is ideally placed to occasionally exploit world mechanics, find loopholes, and generally maximise efficiency in his quest to to go from a zero to hero.

After that, well, there's no knowing what the destiny that System seems to think it has in store for him might include. 

Declan must face hard questions and an even tougher choice: is the saving of his world, the keeping of a final promise and the defeating of a monster he helped mould worth becoming a monster himself for? 

One thing is certain, Declan will learn on his epic journey that the human heart is a torment and a masterpiece.
