My Child of the Sun

Kaleb’s childhood ended the day his father vanished. 

Now he’s just another body in the brickyards, enslaved to the brutal Kergalonian Empire, his people treated like livestock. But the lash is the least of their worries, for they are also hunted by Gilgamites, abominations who bear an ancient, inscrutable grudge against them. While his people pray for a deliverer, Kaleb seeks only a ghost: the father who abandoned him to the mud. 

His search leads him to Yasha, a prophet obsessed with raising their fallen people from the ashes of history. Yasha offers Kaleb the chance to find his father, but the price is absolute. Kaleb must become Yasha’s disciple and harness Tohu, a power drawn from the very blood of the Gilgamites…  

Kaleb’s quest also entangles him with Nebu, a priestess struggling to keep a column of refugees alive, and Enuma, a soothsayer whose silence covers the guilt of a slaughtered tribe. Joined by a giant and a warrior with bones like a bird’s, this fragile alliance must cross a wasteland where the sun kills just as surely as the secrets they keep from one another. Amid shifting sands and seething seas, gods and empires alike will tear the world apart to ensure Kaleb’s people never reclaim what was taken from them.
