It's Not NPC
Synopsis
John Smithers used to be a ghostwriter of many popular low-brow isekai slop in the fantasy world. In the real world, it would be called Isekai; in this fantasy world, they're called biography. He became sick and tired of writing biographies and the otherworlders.
He is now a private investigator, merchant, and anything else you need him to be—if the price is right. He operates his business out of a horse stable, which doubles as his office.
When a so-called hero from another world accidentally kills innocent civilians, that was the final straw. John sets his sights on winning the Tournament of Heroes so he can claim a prize from the King’s vault that will grant him any wish he desires. He plans to use that wish to rid the world of these so-called heroes from another world once and for all. Or he will have to use the old-fashioned method of making heroes disappear, putting them six feet under.
The story is a satire and a deconstruction of the modern Isekia genre.
Notes
While this channel is for stories in a novel format, I’ve written mine in a screenplay style because I wanted to create a webcomic based on it. I may plan to writing the novel version on a later date. If you choose to read it, you might want to familiarize yourself with the screenwriting format. I plan to timestamp corrections and edit in the story.
I hope you enjoy the story, and thank you for reading.
