Synopsis
NewGen is a facility that prides itself on making the perfect marriage partner. Grown from conception in sterile labs. Named by the patrons who ordered them before they were born. Trained for eighteen years in everything a spouse could need.
Seth is not the best in his batch. Not the smartest. Not the strongest. He scores in the middle on purpose — high enough to avoid attention, low enough to avoid being sold early. He's been watching the cameras, mapping the blind spots, testing the staff. Waiting. He knows escape is possible. He just doesn't know how.
Then a new caretaker arrived — someone who was not like the rest. She didn't look at the children like products. She didn't talk to them like inventory. She moved like a soldier and smiled like she was keeping a secret.
