After the Last Wave, He Woke Beneath a Gentle Sky
Synopsis
Kade Bher died the way heroes are supposed to.
Alone, bloodied, and still standing after everyone else had fallen.
After years of war in a brutal fantasy world that turned him into a weapon, death should have been the end of it. Instead, Kade opens his eyes beneath a gentle sky in a place untouched by violence—a white-flowered meadow in a world that feels impossibly alive.
No HUD.
No system.
No holy weapon whispering in his hand.
No battlefield demanding one last sacrifice.
Just wind through the grass, old roads, quiet gods, and a beautiful world called Avelune—a land of shrine paths, crystal-powered airships, sacred wilds, forgotten burial laws, and kingdoms that shine like lanterns against a living dark.
For the first time in years, nothing is trying to use him.
That should feel like freedom.
Instead, it feels wrong.
Because peace is harder to trust than war, and Kade is not the kind of man who knows how to stop surviving.
Worse, Avelune notices what he is.
The fox-eyed shrine maiden who finds him senses old death clinging to his soul. The sacred meadow he wakes in should never have accepted a stranger like him. The gods of this world are distant, watchful, and not all of them are whole. Something ancient brushed against Kade on his way here, and the quiet places of the world seem to remember it before he does.
Now, as he’s dragged into the lives of villagers, wardens, shrine keepers, and people far too kind for his comfort, Kade finds himself caught between two impossible things: a world beautiful enough to break his heart, and the terrifying possibility that he might actually belong in it.
But Avelune is no paradise.
Old graves do not always stay quiet.
Monsters still roam the roads and wild places.
Sacred boundaries are thinning in corners no one wants to name.
And if Kade keeps refusing the past he carried out of death with him, this new life may become another battlefield before he ever learns how to live in it.
In a world of foxfire, gods, memory, and moonlit roads, a dead hero is given one more chance—not to save the world because fate demanded it, but to decide who he is when war is no longer the only answer.
After the last wave, he woke beneath a gentle sky.
What waits for him there may be kinder than the world he left behind.
It may also ask far more of his heart.
