A Tale of Spots and Feathers (A Pathfinder: Kingmaker Fanfiction)
Synopsis
"Claiming the land, claiming its pain, claiming its death..."
Guelder, a druid carrying the curse of lycanthropy, arrives in the faraway city of Restov, heeding a call for heroes. The local ruler assigns her to the task of overthrowing a ruthless bandit lord. If she succeeds in her mission, she'll get to found her very own barony in a wilderness of rugged beauty known as the Stolen Lands. What better place to start fresh and prove herself to the world?
Yet, there is a reason why the Stolen Lands have not been claimed by any of the neighbouring countries, apart from the bandits, monsters and other dangers lurking in every nook and cranny. As Guelder gradually discovers the secrets of the land, she has to realise she has wandered to the playground of powerful fey lords settling an ancient score between each other. She is but a pawn in their game, as were many who came before her, and her attempt to bring peace and prosperity to the land is doomed to fail.
Or is it?
Are her fangs, claws and mind sharp enough to defend her land and people, build a kingdom that will last, and live to tell the story?
What to expect:
- Story set in the Pathfinder universe and magic system
- Original main characters
- Multiple PoV (3rd person limited)
- Dark fantasy with occasional heavy topics and mild sexual content (no harem)
- Competent female leads
- Aro-ace main character
- A nonbinary character
- Slow-burn romance subplot (straight and queer)
Originally a Pathfinder: Kingmaker CRPG (by Paizo/Owlcat) fanfic, but I hope readers outside the fandom will also enjoy it. I do not own the rights to the adventure path, the setting or the NPCs showing up in the story.
