We Are The Dread

In the land of Thrune, monsters of all kinds haunt the world. They linger in the forest and hide along roads and alleys. King Franklin the Second may rule Thrune from his golden hall, but the Cursians rule the night, and they claim a heavy tax from the common folk. The King has his knights to protect him. The Clergy have their paladins to defend the church.

The common folk were left to fend for themselves. scattered amongst small villages and hamlets, man simply died as the horrors persisted. That is, until the Dread came. This random band of common folk survivors united for one cause: to protect the common folk. For a generation, these nameless people drove back the darkness. They became heroes to the common folks.

It should be no surprise that they were declared Heretics by the church and traitors by the crown. 

Don is an uneducated rancher, pretending to be a Knight of the Dread. Lee is a crippled orphan impersonating his squire. Together, they must smuggle a tome bound in a silver chain to the Dread seat of power, at least if they want to honor the dying wish of the man who saved their lives and the only village they ever knew.

Surrounded by enemies and hunted by monsters, the quest is whether they will save Thrune or become the very monsters that plunge it all into hell?

What to Expect

Monsters: lots of them, and the terrible things they do to people
Strength at a cost: It is a risk that fighting monsters can turn people into monsters
Terrible injuries: No one is getting through this unscathed.
