The Promise of Ascension

The Promise of Ascension follows Rionn, a young scholar from Ebenen’s undercity, who is recruited by the legendary Samarii to chronicle the Ascensium, a tournament that determines political legitimacy within the kingdom. Through Samarii, Rionn gains access to the ruling class of Gottes Turm and becomes entangled in a growing investigation surrounding a series of disappearances tied to the council.

At the same time, Oligaar struggles under the expectations placed upon him as the heir of a declining legacy. Smaller and less respected than the other contenders, Oligaar enters the Ascensium hoping to prove his worth, but gradually becomes disillusioned with the political system surrounding it.

As the tournament progresses, Rionn uncovers evidence that the corruption within Ebenen runs deeper than he realized. Samarii suspects the disappearances are connected to hidden activity beneath the city, while tensions between the ruling houses continue to escalate. What begins as a competition for legitimacy slowly turns into a struggle for survival as political manipulation, violence, and buried truths begin tearing the kingdom apart from within.
