The Ninth Empire
Synopsis
The Ninth Empire is a runaway train. The royal family commands, the consortiums seize the reins, and ordinary citizens like Aaron burn as fuel.
As a disposable mining slave, Aaron is destined to freeze or bleed to death in the wilderness. But he has a secret: a heaven-defying, monstrous talent for potion-making.
While the Empire fights millennia-old wars against the Church, pharmacists are the true masters of this dystopian world, capable of concocting miracles from a handful of weeds.
Given a few basic formulas by a murdered pharmacist, Aaron doesn't just learn; he innovates. He doesn't brew healing salves for his consortium masters; he spends a year brewing an odorless, untraceable poison to wipe out his overseers in a single night of slaughter.
Escaping the mine is only the first step. To survive the lethal "seed" ticking like a time bomb in his head, Aaron breaks into the upper echelons of the Empire. Armed with formulas that took elite masters decades to comprehend, the former slave will rewrite the rules of power.
