The Kraken's Deep
Synopsis
It's been a hundred years since the war ended with the Locusts. We lost so much technology and information that we don't even know what we lost. Humanity is trying to crawl its way back and prevent anything like the devastation we experienced from happening ever again through diplomacy and trade.
This is where the xenodiplomacy department comes in.
But, every alien ambassador should have the following two skills:
1. Ability to pick up languages quickly.
2. Tact.
Ling is one of the best language learners to ever pick up a xenolinguistics textbook, but her people/alien skills are… not great. After immersing herself in a plethora of cultures from around the galaxy, she’s picked up more than a few eccentric habits, and they’ve made her a bit weird.
When Ling is turned down for the one job she thinks will keep her safe from the alien monsters that almost wiped-out humanity, she is forced to either face her fears on the water world of their origin or run from them forever.
Against her better judgment, Ling chooses the water world, and as her adventure evolves in unexpected ways, so does she. In order to survive Ling will need to face adversity and danger, but to thrive she’ll need to conquer The Kraken’s Deep.
