Synopsis

"The Grim Hearth" is a grimdark fantasy of bureaucratic horror: the monster was never a beast, but a system that decided a living god was more useful as a well. Mule is a made-magus — death-touched, able to gate aether no born wizard can — and the only man who can shut the door on a god's own rain. His gift makes him precious and expendable at once.

This is a story about earned power without triumph, a hard magic system where the rules never bend for the plot, and characters who are morally grey because the world they live in is.
