The Bound Before (A Slow-Burn Survival LitRPG)
Synopsis
In Dunmere, poverty is ordinary, and awakenings are rare.
Seventeen-year-old orphan Cael Vey expects to spend his life cutting timber for men stronger than him. He is useful with an axe, accustomed to hunger, and entirely forgettable.
Deep in the blackpine forest, Cael and the the man who raised him are caught in a forbidden blood ritual. He should die beside him. Instead, Cael kills an elf, saves a wounded doe, and returns to Dunmere carrying something neither the ritual nor the System can properly explain. And despite everything, he becomes one of few that awaken to Iron (early), among a town full of commoners.
As beasts gather, old powers move, and war closes around the frontier, Cael is forced into a brutal climb through a world where rank determines worth but advancement takes its toll. Skills must be worked. Abilities can evolve and merge. Equipment, food, coin, and shelter matter. Every gain is earned through labour, sacrifice, or choices that cannot be undone.
Beginning as a frightened commoner with a battered axe, Cael must survive ruined roads, black forests, ranked mines, failing settlements, and the ancient forces stirring beneath them—all while determining whether the thing awakening inside him is a path to power or simply another kind of hunger.
What to expect:
• Weak-to-strong progression with no shortcuts
• Survival-focused LitRPG where labour, equipment, and supplies matter
• Skill evolution, ability merging, and consequential advancement
• Frontier towns, dangerous wilderness, ranked mines, and buried mysteries
• Slow-burn power growth with lasting physical and social consequences
Dark worlds. Slow burns. Lasting marks.
