The Bloodhorn
Synopsis
A dream will give you everything and strip you of everything you have
Tucked away in the basement of a rundown flower shop, twenty-year-old Lucen just has one simple dream: to actually see a real, open blue sky. His body basically gave out on him the day he was born, leaving him chronically sick and stuck in bed. But his frail condition comes with a massive catch, there's a secret locked inside his body that the outside world is absolutely desperate to get their hands on.
Outside his basement, things are bleak. The world is a cold, dark mess run by the ruthless Federation and soaked in the blood of countless hunters. Every single day, monsters called the Riftborn tear through dimensional rifts to wreak havoc. Up until now, Lucen has just been lying in the dark, listening to the muffled echoes of a war he has no part in.
But the war drops on his doorstep.
When a massive rift tears open near the flower shop, the comforting smell of damp soil and blooming flowers is instantly wiped out by the stench of blood. As Federation Hunters and Riftborn come crashing through his ceiling, Lucen’s quiet little sanctuary is shattered forever. He is dragged up into a bleeding world, caught squarely in the crossfire between monsters who want to eat him and a government that wants to use him.
If both sides are willing to destroy the city just to get to him, maybe his failing body isn't actually a curse, maybe it's a cage. And if that cage finally breaks during the chaos, will Lucen live long enough to see his blue sky, or will the secret hiding inside him tear the world apart first?
