Rise of the House Arcanist
Synopsis
Declan Thorn dreams of being an arcanist, harnessing the power of runes to work magic, slay the blazed beasts who stalk the world, and live a life of luxury and influence. The problem? He’s the son of a workman in a foundry town at the far edge of the kingdom. Arcanists are born to nobles, taught from birth, prepped and primed and that’s before they attend Ariloch Academy, where the greatest in the world go to learn.
Given a chance to earn a place at the academy, Declan seizes it, becoming the ‘house arcanist’ for a fallen, near forgotten house. Its got no political power, less money, and more problems than working doors. His advantages? A workman’s drive, the guidance of a war-scarred arcanist in his sunset years, and Insight, the ability to identify runes and understand their magic.
In a place where monster swarms are welcomed, noble houses war for position, and every path to power is guarded, just surviving is a challenge, but Declan Thorn sets out to do more than survive. His goal? Become the most powerful arcanist in history. His rise begins here.
Featuring a weak to strong MC and telling a story arc meant to end in ten books, this gamelit fantasy will appeal to fans of Mark of the Fool or Return of the Runebound Professor. Or no one, it’s hard to tell. I mean, at least it’s not Reincarnated as a Demon Prince’s Foreskin. Yet.
Not Harem, though the MC will have relationships with a few different people over the course of the series, it’s one at a time if at all. Sorry, I can’t write Harem.
Weak to strong. First book, he’s weak. Last book, ridiculously strong.
Runes. Lots of runes with a system composed of root runes, combinations and modifiers.
Some combat. Some education. Some conversation. Some administration.
No real pets. If you want a series with pets, you’re not going to believe this…
