Charlotte “Charley” Willoughby is the only breadwinner for her family. She’s made herself useful helping her company retrieve Artifacts from the Rifts: rough tears in the fabric of reality that appear randomly. The Artifacts they find are oddly out of place: she doesn't recognize the writing on them, and they evoke places and cultures she's unfamiliar with.

Then one of them, an ember-covered feather, flips her entire life upside down. Strange dreams and unexpected guests then proceed to tear a 'Rift' of their own into her day-to-day.

This job was supposed to be safe(ish)... Now she's wondering if she should demand hazard pay.
