Masks

We all live behind masks of one sort or another. 

He’s beautiful, unreadable, a courtesan who lives by illusion and charm. She’s quiet, lonely, and too used to being invisible. When they meet beneath the lilac trees of a rain-soaked garden, she doesn’t expect a stranger’s gentleness to undo her so completely. But in that single night — with the rain falling and the city asleep — they see something in each other neither has dared to believe exists: a reflection of longing that might be real.

As their worlds intertwine, his carefully built composure begins to crack. Behind every smile is a man learning how to be more than what he sells; behind every touch, she begins to wonder what it means to be wanted without condition. What starts as chance becomes something neither of them can name — tenderness, maybe, or the first fragile shape of love.

Masks is a slow-burning, deeply intimate story about vulnerability and the courage to be seen. It explores the spaces between desire and trust, artifice and honesty, and what happens when two people who’ve spent their lives behind masks finally dare to let them down — and stay.
