In a world parallel to our present time, small gangs compete in underground fighting pits where masked businessmen bet on blood. The gang "Masked Chaos" has dominated the scene for eight years, led by a mysterious leader whose identity no one knows. The Lynx is one of its members, a fighter who uses an ordinary baseball bat. At the novel's opening, Detective Kaelen Voss (32 years old) raids one of the pits during a fight between the Lynx and a member of the Claw gang. The Lynx escapes in the chaos, and Voss begins chasing him as a thread that might lead to the mysterious leader. But Voss soon discovers that someone wants the Lynx dead before he can talk, and that the pits' profits reach the highest levels of power. Voss finds himself in a race against time to uncover the truth, caught between those who want to expose the underworld and those who want to bury it forever.
