Chronologic Contradiction: Silusin
Synopsis
Pa-5's a serviceman engineer, a few years into her compulsory service. One of the hundreds of thousands left that make up humanity. She’s not special. She’s not indispensable.
And yet, as what's left crumbles beneath the onslaught of the nigh-unkillable Aud, she'll find herself embarking on an impossible mission, gambling with everything humanity has left: time travel.
Nine hundred years ago, humanity's at a different crossroads, its own continuity all but assured. The pre-collapse world looks bright and hopeful in comparison, but the shadows she grew up with have different shapes in this time. Even without them to clue her in, she knows better--she remembers better.
Make no mistake: the conditions leading to extinction are already in motion, the result of choices historical actors don’t yet question. To worsen her situation, she isn't alone; one of the Aud, perhaps the worst of them all, hitches a ride.
Upon their arrival, the two initiate a race fought in secret. A human with everything to lose works to rewrite humanity's story, and an apex predator with everything to gain strives to preserve it. On both sides, every intervention risks worsening the outcome.
What Pa-5 takes with her is the certainty that there is no certainty she deserves to succeed. That, survivor’s guilt, and the knowledge of how humanity ends.
