Burning Quanta

In an alternate history where spatial rifts unlocked the monster-infested parallel world of Earth-2, gaining superpowers is no golden ticket to a heroic life. Surviving the adolescent "Pivot Crisis" requires hyper-expensive bio-stabilization treatments, giving corporate monopolies complete control over a new underclass of debt-enslaved "Tiered" humans.  

Albert "Al" Meyer is a Tier 1 biokinetic drowning in over $3 million of medical debt. By day, he earns $22 an hour draining post-operative bruising for wealthy corporate socialites at an upscale cosmetic clinic; by night, he takes shady street-triage jobs off a gig-economy app in Detroit’s ruined "Hollow" just to keep up with compounding daily interest.

Al’s precarious grind explodes when an elite smuggler known as "The Porter" dies on his makeshift operating table. An accidental ingestion of the smuggler’s blood triggers Albert’s dormant secondary power: Quantum Mimicry, the ability to copy powers. Cornered by armed gangsters, Albert agonizingly reshapes his own flesh to match the dead man's face and inherit a high-stakes double life. Suddenly thrust into a spiral of corporate and international intrigue, he must play a dead man to survive the lethal machinery of modern bio-feudalism.
