The Reader Who Shouldn't Exist

by Ennea Hazelwood Ongoing

Synopsis

In the world Chloe wakes into, a toaster is a holy relic and reading is punishable by fire.

Three hundred years after the Fall, Chloe wakes in a cryopod with no allies and a body that barely obeys her.

Outside, civilization has rebuilt itself around holy relics: toasters under glass, flashlights on altars, warning signs no one can read. The Guild of Awakeners controls the old machines and burns anyone who understands the words left behind.

But Chloe was a translator.

She can read the manuals and the labels. The dead voices everyone else mistakes for ritual. Every page makes her more useful. Every word makes her more dangerous.

To survive, she must hide the one skill everyone needs and turn forbidden knowledge into power before the Guild or the world itself decides she should have stayed asleep.

What to expect: post-apocalyptic knowledge progression, forbidden literacy, relic repair, old-tech archaeology, survival, slow-burn trust, and a clever female lead who wins by understanding things she was never meant to see.

What not to expect: stat screens, harem, instant overpowered MC, easy answers.
