The Cowboy and the Prince

TL;DR: It's furry Game of Thrones, where Clint Eastwood is just kind of there with his fluffy cat-boy.

He had already watched one civilization destroy itself. Now he must become the catalyst for saving another.

Morton Christian is a weathered gunslinger roaming the lands of a post-apocalyptic America, and he expects to die in the same wasteland that claimed his family, his country, and everything he once believed in. Instead, a chance encounter with an ancient entity casts him into another world.

One inhabited largely by a cat-like people called the Kharani.

One of rival noble houses, religious tensions, monstrous wilderness, and political conflicts that have been brewing for centuries.

There, power belongs largely to women.

Women inherit estates, command armies, wage wars, collect husbands, and decide the futures of nations. Men are expected to be beautiful, obedient, politically useful, and safely removed from the violence of public life.

Prince Tahir has spent his entire life trapped within those societal expectations.

As the first son of a royal household, he is far less a person than he is a diplomatic asset: a potential husband, a bargaining piece, and a symbol of his family's prestige. But after he is taken captive, he finds an unlikely rescuer: Morton, a heavily armed Texan whose masculinity, manners, religion, and ideas of freedom violate nearly every social rule Tahir has ever known.

The two of them must travel together for the sake of survival. And this time, Morton thinks he may have a chance to stop the end of the world before it begins.

But in a realm where loyalty is purchased through marriage, peace is maintained through intimidation, and even love can become an act of treason, saving the future may require tearing the old order apart.

What to Expect

The Cowboy and the Prince is a character-driven political fantasy combining isekai, post-apocalyptic Western, military fantasy, and court drama.

Readers can expect competing noble houses, succession politics, diplomatic marriages, military rivalries, ideological conflict, and a gradual escalation toward large-scale war.

There is a strong emphasis on culture clash. Morton enters a matriarchal society with deeply ingrained expectations surrounding gender, beauty, marriage, inheritance, sexuality, warfare, and public authority. His behavior is frequently interpreted through cultural assumptions he does not understand, while Tahir must confront the possibility that many customs he considers natural are neither universal nor inevitable.

Alongside political intrigue and warfare, the series explores themes such as trauma, masculinity, faith, class, family obligation, and social conditioning.

Tonally, it balances violence and political tension with dry humor, interpersonal warmth, fish-out-of-water misunderstandings, and the developing bond between a hardened survivor and a sheltered prince.

Schedule

Hopefully at least two chapters a week, mostly on Saturdays and Sundays. I sometimes post more or less throughout the week, so the schedule can be pretty sporadic.
