Skill: Tidying Up
Synopsis
🏆 Grand Prize winner of a Japanese fantasy-novel award — ranked #1 out of 3,248 entries. Featured by news outlets and across social media in Japan and overseas.
With this organizing skill of mine, I'll tidy up even a kingdom-toppling crisis!
Mikako Sato, dead at twenty-eight. Cause of death: overwork. After endless all-nighters and weekends in the office, she quietly breathed her last at her desk in a soul-crushing company — and when she next awoke, it was in a fantasy world of swords and magic.
Her new life: Mika Ashfield, sixteen, the daughter of a poor, unremarkable country noble. The reincarnation perk the gods handed her turned out to be 〈Perfect Organization〉 — an outrageously plain, unglamorous skill.
“I would've at least liked some healing magic…”
Disappointed by a skill useless for both combat and crafting, Mika wishes only to live quietly this time around. But that modest wish is shattered by a sudden conscription order from the royal family: “All those who possess special skills are to report for service at the royal palace.”
To protect her family — and certain she'll be dismissed as useless and sent home — Mika sets out for the capital. The assignment she's handed there is nothing short of reckless: “Organize this Sealed Warehouse.” It is the crown's greatest forbidden ground, centuries of goods heaped into a chaos so total that an exploration party is rumored to have gotten lost inside and never returned.
Facing that hopeless sight, Mika activates her skill — and in that instant, the world begins to tremble before the true power of her “tidying up.”
A workplace-reform fantasy in which a former corporate-slave noblewoman accidentally optimizes an entire kingdom with her plain little skill — and, her worth discovered by a stiff, straitlaced Knight Commander and an all-too-capable Emperor, somehow ends up hopelessly, overprotectively doted upon.
Author's note: I am the original author. This is my own English translation of my Japanese web novel, serialized on Kakuyomu: https://kakuyomu.jp/works/16818792435492006333. Royal Road is the only official English publication of this work.
