Book One of The Tutorial Misunderstood Us.

Earth was already doomed.

The System just got there first.

When every screen on the planet goes black, humanity receives the same message at once: Integration has begun. Classes will be assigned. Quests will be issued. Calibration is mandatory.

The System says it saved them.

It might even be telling the truth.

Something worse was coming for Earth, and the aliens behind the System had only minutes to hide an entire species. So they digitized the planet, folded it into a protected game-layer, and gave humanity levels, safe zones, monsters, quests, crafting, and progression.

There was only one problem.

They had no idea what humans were.

Now grief is a status effect. Jobs become classes. Homes become habitats. Love is mistaken for ownership. The dead return as tutorial prompts wearing familiar voices. Monsters crawl out of bad translations, built from family, memory, debt, fear, and regret.

Amina Okafor was an emergency dispatcher before the world ended. She was trained to hear what people meant beneath what they said.

The System has no idea how to classify that.

While others receive beginner quests, Amina receives one broken objective:

Remain Human.

To survive, she’ll have to gather the people the System misclassified, including Mateo Sanz, a salvage crafter who can build tools from scraps, broken objects, and the strange meanings the System assigns to them.

A hinge is not just metal.

A blanket is not just cloth.

A photograph is not just paper.

In this new world, every object means something. And if they can understand what the System thinks those meanings are, they might be able to craft shelter, weapons, protection, and maybe even a way to resist.

But the rescue engine is still learning.

The thing outside the System is still hunting.

And humanity’s only chance may depend on a handful of broken people teaching an alien machine the difference between saving someone and owning them.
