Synopsis

Donivar has always wanted to be a hero.

Unfortunately, heroism is currently being managed, scripted, and distributed by a private organization with excellent funding and questionable morals.

In other words:

Questing is fake.

The monsters? Paid.
The danger? Controlled.
The glory? Manufactured.

But when Donivar and his brother Roland uncover the truth—and their friend Sal gets caught in the machinery behind it—they’re forced off-script.

Which is a dangerous place to be… in a world where everything is supposed to go according to plan.

With a gnome resistance group, a crumbling illusion, and far more real danger than advertised, they’ll have to figure out what heroism actually means—

in a world that was never meant to have real heroes at all.
