Synopsis

Please Build a Village

A Cozy Settlement-Building Progression Fantasy

Eadgyth came to Merewick to repair one ruined wayhouse.

The roof needed patching. The hearth needed setting straight. The road needed clearing. The village needed, at most, a few sensible improvements and considerably fewer opinions about geese.

Then the old civic system beneath the valley began recognizing her work.

A repaired bridge reconnects a forgotten settlement. A shared hearth brings displaced families to the door. A better road attracts traders, inspectors, and obligations. Every improvement makes Merewick safer, busier, and more difficult to manage.

Now Eadgyth must turn a failing village into a functioning community before winter closes the roads—and before the region remembers that Merewick was once part of something much larger.

With the help of stubborn builders, opinionated bakers, traveling joiners, anxious hearth-keepers, formal record-keepers, and one goose with firm views on property law, Eadgyth will have to build more than walls.

She will have to build trust.

And somewhere beyond the old North Road, abandoned homes are waiting for their villages to be built around them.
