Kane Aducius is a wandering mage blessed by the Gods, but he pays that privilege no mind. He'd rather spend his days lounging around in the shade; after all, he's nine years old. But spending his days violently carving a bloody path with a stream of bodies in its wake has left its mark, and old habits die hard. Charity is the love of both one's God and one's neighbors, and Kane is struggling to see the latter.

Prodigious polymath Sophia "The Crown Jewel" Natalie Own Argo is the first princess of the United Empire of Arador. Despite her similarly youthful status and already obscenely long list of achievements, she rigorously chastises herself for every failure. Charity is the love of one's neighbors and oneself, and Sophia is struggling to see the latter.

Their innocuous chance encounter spurs a budding friendship between two people of very different worlds. This friendship will soon become indispensable, for both are doomed to a fate that will rattle their souls. Charity is the love of all things, and true charity is not one that can be achieved in the comfortable leisure of life. To protect those they love is already a monumental task. To do so while clinging to their virtues and their love for all may well and truly be impossible.

But that sure as hell won't stop them from trying.

This story is a slow-paced, cozy "love story" without romance. Love is not exclusively romantic.

Readers can expect: Slice-of-life, action, worldbuilding, comedy, war/military, doomed heroes, intelligent characters, crime, queerplatonic themes, and occasional eldritch shenaniganry bordering on horror. What happens when slice-of-life characters are thrown into a fantastically dangerous world?

Readers shouldn't expect: Romance between the leads, LitRPG, progression that takes center-stage, kingdom-building, lethal doses of politics, and sexual content.

Darkness and character deaths are prominent themes in this story. There will be content warnings before chapters that include gore or other sensitive content. This story also has a fair amount of profanity.
