For Charlene Devardem, the thought of gaining these powers, of becoming an essentia magician, was never something she expected to happen. Now that the opportunity dangles in front of her, she finds that she wants it. Not for the heroism, the fame, or even to follow in the footsteps of her two prodigy brothers. Charlene wants it simply because magic makes people beautiful.
