The Field Surgeon's Ascension

Tan Wu is forty-one. He has set ten thousand bones, buried more men than he can name, and
never once been the strongest person in a room.

makes him live that death again to earn the lesson. Then it takes something: a name, a voice,
a face. Small things, at first.

He pays anyway, because four hundred li west there is a nine-year-old with a spreading dark
under her skin that no physician in the province can touch — and the only cure is a realm he
is decades and one lifetime short of reaching.

The prodigies climb because they were born able to. Tan Wu climbs because his daughter has
one season left, and he is willing to be billed.

He should know better than most what happens to a man who keeps paying.

WHAT TO EXPECT
- An adult protagonist: competent, tired, unimpressed. No chosen one, no bloodline, no harem.
- Progression that costs something real — expertise converts to power, and the book keeps a
ledger of what it took to get there.
- A hard ceiling, honestly enforced: knowing exactly where a body breaks does not mean you
can reach it. Precision loses to a wide enough realm gap, and it loses on the page.
- Field surgery, meridians, poison-craft, Bureau paperwork, and fights decided by knowing
rather than by flash.
- A daughter who is a person, not a quest marker.
- Daily release. Grounded, dry, not grimdark. No harem.
