Synopsis

Volume 1: Bartleby Bromelard, Renegade Scrivener - Lowly apprentice Bartleby the scrivener must fix his boss's screw-up, or all his back pay and retirement fund will retroactively dissappear--POOF! He is forced into a quest from quaint Upper Dithering to the great metropolis of Vaelen-Craig with the help of an alcoholic gargoyle and a wily thief. They will face bounty-hunters, accountants and actuaries in a world where writing in a ledger can alter reality and a notary stamp can change the universe. All told, He would prefer not to.

What to expect in Volume 1:

A LitRPG steampunk/bureaupunk fantasy adventure with character sheet progression.

Satire/parody/droll humor

Magic system based on Bureaucracy

Regency/Victorian-like world

Literary/cultural easter eggs (Can you find 'em all?)

What not to expect:

Harems, Herrings, Sardines, Penguins (as food or otherwise)

Volume 2: Bartleby and the Copper Fleas - To earn the freedom of his friend Yarrow, Bee must go undercover on a colonial adventure and subvert a rival trade union's occult plans. A dark and brutal satire demonstrating that in the grand game of life, when we aren't leveling up—we're just line items waiting to be expensed.

What to expect in volume 2:

Everything in Volume one, PLUS: Violence, Dark humor, Commentary on Colonialism and institutionally weaponized stupidity, Depictions of the horrors of colonial rule, Man versus nature, mental health breakdowns, some body horror, cooties, literary easter eggs, and rutabagas.

What not to expect in volume 2:

Harems, pangolins, pro-Jingoism
