​Then the ancient entity wakes beneath the roots of the Rau Forest.

​Speaking with three synchronized voices—a weeping woman, a screaming child, and a dying old man—the horror shatters the boundary palisade. To save her brother, Ambiani sacrifices her spirit, leaving her a hollowed, empty vessel. When the archway shatters in the aftermath, the sanctuary of home is destroyed forever, splitting the survivors across hundreds of miles of impassable wilderness.
