Synopsis

About Homeward

Ethan Ashford did not enter the Realm chasing glory.

He came for a cure.

His mother is sick, the family farm is failing, and somewhere beyond Earth lies a magical item valuable enough to save them both. To find it, Ethan must survive a world of dangerous beasts, evolving classes, living quests, and mysteries written into reality by an amused entity known only as the Chronicle.

But the Realm is not merely a battlefield.

It is a place of warm taverns and strange companions. Of meals shared beside campfires. Of frightened creatures that need rescuing, stubborn people who refuse to be left behind, and communities worth protecting.

Armed with a spear, his father’s hatchet, a talent for cooking, and a Warden class built around endurance, recovery, and protecting others, Ethan begins the long journey toward becoming strong enough to bring something precious home.

Along the way, he may discover that home is not only the place he is trying to save.

Sometimes, it is something built one meal, one promise, and one unlikely friendship at a time.

What to Expect

A hopeful, character-driven LitRPG

A kind and practical protagonist who helps because it is the right thing to do

Meaningful progression with attributes, skills, classes, professions, companions, and evolving quests.

Combat where tactics, preparation, endurance, and teamwork matter.

A protagonist who grows stronger without becoming cruel or emotionally detached.

Cooking, harvesting, camping, exploration, and moments of everyday fantasy life.

Magical animals with distinct personalities.

Found family and gradually expanding friendships.

A slow-burn romance built on trust, compatibility, and genuine companionship.

A cozy community that becomes increasingly important to the story.

Humor arising naturally from characters, animals, and unfortunate circumstances.

A mysterious and occasionally opinionated System narrator.

Emotional stakes alongside progression and adventure.

Victories earned through compassion, cooperation, and stubbornness as often as raw power.

Longer story arcs with quieter chapters between moments of danger.

A world intended to feel alive beyond the protagonist’s immediate goals.

What Not to Expect

An overpowered protagonist who immediately dominates every challenge.

A cold, ruthless, or murder-focused main character.

Constant combat, dungeon grinding, or uninterrupted action.

Progression based entirely on killing.

A protagonist who treats every person as an obstacle, resource, or future subordinate.

Instant romance, a harem, or relationships based solely on attraction.

Endless stat pages or numerical optimization at the expense of character development.

A grimdark world where kindness is always punished.

A story built around humiliation, revenge, or proving everyone wrong.

Disposable side characters who exist only to praise the protagonist.

Every conflict being resolved by Ethan alone.

A traditional power fantasy where strength is the only meaningful form of progress

Ethan will become powerful. But Homeward is less interested in whether he can stand above everyone else than in who chooses to stand beside him.
