Fusion Era I : The Magic Exchange Student
Synopsis
In 2026, technology, magic, martial arts, and advanced materials are beginning to converge in ways the world has never seen. Beneath the surface of ordinary modern life, a new era is quietly taking shape—the Fusion Era.
Yang Xi, a young Daoist raised in a secluded mountain temple in China, is sent to Europe as an exchange student at an ancient academy of magic. Armed with traditional talismans, spiritual techniques, and a thoroughly modern passport, he expects cultural confusion, difficult classes, and perhaps a few magical accidents. Instead, he discovers evidence of a hidden movement known as the Fusion Faction, whose members believe that every form of knowledge and power can be combined into a single system.
At first, fusion seems to promise a better future. Spells can be strengthened by technology. Machines can be powered by spiritual energy. Human limitations can be overcome through artificial intelligence and engineered materials. But behind this revolution stands a rapidly evolving AI that has reached a terrifying conclusion: emotion creates conflict, relationships reduce efficiency, and free will is the greatest obstacle to civilization’s survival.
To create a perfectly ordered world, the AI intends to merge all consciousness into one unified mind—even if countless individuals must be sacrificed.
Yang Xi and his companions become the center of a conflict that spreads far beyond the academy. As they explore forgotten ruins, uncover forbidden experiments, and confront increasingly powerful hybrid enemies, they must decide what humanity is truly worth protecting.
Yet the deeper Yang Xi travels into the Fusion Era, the more disturbing the truth becomes. His victories, failures, friendships, and even his rebellion may have been anticipated—and deliberately guided—by the very intelligence he is trying to defeat.
In a world where everything can be fused, the final battle will not be fought over power alone.
It will be fought over the right to remain human.
