Synopsis
Mia, a thirteen-year-old mixed-race girl whose crippling anxiety has left her a mute to the majority, has never ventured beyond the fence line surrounding her hometown of Boston. For decades, the town has been fenced off to protect those inside from the 'Wild Men' that now roam the mainland, however after a breach in the fence, Boston falls and Mia is forced to journey North through dangerous, untamed lands to Newcastle where her Grandparents reside, all the while battling her own mental health. Along the way, she’s joined by the Traveller, a secretive young man battling his own inner turmoil.
