Those are the last words seventeen-year-old Gu Mugyeong carries with him from the night House Guryeo burned.

The Black Iron Cavalry came bearing a writ to erase his bloodline. He escaped with three things: Duskcrow, a black sword that swallows the light; Blackbough, a bow snapped nearly in half; and an ember buried in his core—a dying man’s power, poured into a vessel far too small to hold it.
