The Ryoshi Detective

Logline:

He doesn't have evidence. He doesn't chase suspects. He doesn't even have his rent money. But he has an undeniable "aura," an incredibly unconventional genius, and an underworld that is absolutely terrified of him.

Synopsis:

Aaron is, objectively speaking, the laziest detective in Ryoshi City. He refuses to chase suspects, he hates fieldwork, and his primary investigative technique involves putting his feet on his desk while watching terrible variety shows. To the casual observer, he is a broke, arrogant loser.

But beneath the supreme laziness lies a bizarrely brilliant mind. Aaron doesn't solve crimes by dusting for prints; he solves them by weaponizing human ego, observing the microscopic details everyone else misses, and confidently bluffing his way out of (and into) life-threatening danger.

Alongside him is Lin, a terrifyingly competent, sword-wielding bodyguard who handles the actual combat and only sticks around to ensure she gets her paycheck to fund her expensive dumpling habit.

Together, they navigate a city of chaotic misunderstandings. An overly eager beat cop worships Aaron's desk-hiding as "advanced psychological warfare." The criminal underworld is convinced he is a ruthless, untouchable kingpin. A ruthless mafia boss—who happens to be his identical twin brother—pays him blackmail money just to go away. And a sadistic crime queen has developed a dangerous obsession with him based on a massive, hilarious case of mistaken identity.

Aaron just wants to pay his rent and be left alone. Unfortunately, his massive brain and chaotic luck are about to accidentally clean up the streets of Ryoshi City.
