Synopsis

Something is wrong with the world outside. Something is wrong with the girl inside.

Devin built his whole life around one rule: don't open the door. The bunker keeps them safe. It might also be the thing that buries them.

Then Risa gets sick, and the rule stops being a choice. Outside is a world you can breathe and not much else. The plants grow wrong. The creatures move without pattern and watch without eyes. Things happen that nobody bothers to explain, because there's nobody left to ask.

He'll carry her when she can't walk. He'll talk to her when she can't answer. He's done this before, and he isn't going to lose her again.
