The Hidden Manor

Yuna has always believed her strange abilities were nothing more than an unusual inheritance. Born with "Gardener's blood," she can sense and subtly influence living things, but her mother, Mia, has always enforced one absolute rule: never use her gift in front of others.

As long as Yuna obeys, Mia insists, they can live an ordinary life. Fearing for her daughter's safety, Mia takes her to Korea, hoping distance will keep the Ecletus at bay. After the revelation, Yuna seems to finally find peace with the secret she has carried. For years, she lives quietly, no longer questioning who she is or why she must remain different. Believing it is finally safe, Mia decides to return with Yuna to their family home in Illinois before the start of high school. But their fragile sense of normalcy is soon disrupted when Yuna meets Damon, an attractive and mysterious high school student who performs the impossible.

At Damon's invitation, Yuna and Mia travel to a crumbling manor hidden deep within the woods, despite being raised as a human, she herself is a candidate to become as a warrior like Damon. At first, the revelation is exhilarating.

But training soon becomes a brutal awakening. Compared to the other initiates, Yuna is painfully slow, weak, and undeniably human. Yuna must push past her human limits to claim her power before it's too late.
