Synopsis

They never die. So they never learned how to remember.

Sehl is a surveyor of the Iruveth, a deathless people who made a bargain long ago to survive forever: keep almost nothing, and the weight of it can never stop you where you stand. He crosses the dark cataloguing the graves of civilizations, confirming each ending, recording a number, moving on.

Then a dead world reaches for him first, a small grey planet that flung a greeting past the edge of everything it knew, on the chance that someone would come. What Sehl finds there is a mortal species that spent its brief life building the one thing his kind spends eternity refusing to do. They died. And they would not be forgotten.

An alien-perspective story of deep time and memory, told through the eyes of the immortal who arrived too late to save them, and far too late to forget them.
